St. Louis, MO – May 20, 2020 –  Afinitas, the leading global infrastructure equipment and services company, is pleased to announce the promotion of Derek Von Cannon to Vice President of Sales for the Americas. In his newly expanded role, Von Cannon, who most recently served as Vice President of Sales for the Afinitas Forming Systems division, will now also oversee North American sales operations for the company’s Equipment and Automation division (which includes HawkeyePedershaab and BFS equipment). The change was effective May 11, 2020. Von Cannon replaces Matt Childs, who recently accepted a position with Turner Company in Rhome, TX.

“Anyone who knows Derek, knows that he is a strong leader with a laser focus on customer satisfaction, which has led to record-breaking performance for our Forming Systems division,” said Brad Schmidgall, Afinitas CEO. “His energy and strategic vision will serve him well as he and his team deliver the most advanced concrete technologies available to an even wider customer base.”

Von Cannon joined Afinitas as part of the Spillman acquisition in 2018. Spillman is a leading designer and manufacturer of precast forms and provider of concrete accessories. He was promoted to Vice President in 2019 to lead sales across the newly established Afinitas Forming Systems division comprised of the merged New Hampton Metal Fabrication and Spillman companies. Prior to Afinitas, Von Cannon worked in sales for 15 years for a drainage systems company. He is a graduate of Shorter University in Rome, Georgia, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration and management.

“It’s an honor to lead this team of experts in precast products and services, and I am thankful for the confidence placed in me,” said Von Cannon. “Combining their experience and know-how with our strong Afinitas equipment and forming brands, means more innovation, resources and ease of doing business with us. I am excited to work closely with our sales teams to provide solutions that will boost business for our customers and strengthen our industry.”
