Welder-Fabricator (Mediapolis, IA)

We currently have Welder-Fabricator positions available in our Mediapolis, Iowa, location.

Job Summary

The Fabricator has the ability to proceed on any type of production welding, building to customer specifications and drawings.  This individual must be able to proceed from blue prints, identify all types and sizes of steel, operate various pieces of equipment, and perform basic welding maintenance.

Essential Functions:

Production Knowledge:  Comprehends job duties in relation to procedures, materials, equipment, techniques, and policies.  Suggests ideas for Company process improvements that would improve productivity and reduce cost.

Quality of Work:  Thoroughly and accurately completes work. Produces a product that meets company quality standards and drives customer satisfaction.

Productivity:  Effectively prioritizes work, completing work in a timely fashion with minimal supervision.  Displays initiative by flexing to other areas when own workload is low.

Teamwork:  Works well with others regardless of their level or background; is inclusive and respectful.    Deals with different points of view constructively.  Goes above and beyond to assist peers and management.  Responds to change and ambiguity with openness and confidence.

Regulations & Safety:  Maintains a clean, safe work area.  Follows all Company and OSHA safety rules.  Follows standard operating procedures for equipment operation and utilizes personal protective equipment (PPE) properly.

Reliability:  Reports to work as scheduled, on time, and works through the whole shift.  Works overtime as needed and requested.  Accurately records time worked.

Other Duties:  Other assignments and projects may be added at the organization’s discretion.

  • Design electrical and automation systems for equipment
  • Work with mechanical engineering group to integrate electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic design
  • Create schematics and panel drawings for manufacturing equipment
  • Create and complete bills of material for equipment
  • Use AutoCAD, ePLAN, and MS Office software effectively
  • Evaluate and implement design changes
  • Calibrate sensors and drives for machine control
  • Technical writing and formatting manuals
    • Trouble-shoot problems on automatic equipment by phone or remote connection

Job Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Technical 4-year education or technical 2-year education required
    • Basic understanding of:
  • Electrical systems including motors, AC drives, and control circuits
  • PLCs and associated components

Job Summary

The purpose of this job is to assemble, service, and take service calls on machines.  This includes assembly and installation of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic circuits as well as the ability to troubleshoot these circuits.  The technician must travel to install, repair, troubleshoot, and assemble machines at various locations for our customers.        

  • This person will field technical support phone calls from customers.
  • Field parts calls from customers. This will include placing the order and providing the needed information to both the customer and the Hawkeye sales department. This will include providing pricing, quotations, customer purchase order numbers, and availability.
  • Assembly / routing of electrical systems from schematics.
  • Assembly of machinery, and routing of hydraulic and pneumatics
  • Welding of structural components from blueprints
  • Meet established production and quality standards.
  • Conform to all company attendance, safety, and personnel policies.
  • Able to operate forklifts, man-lifts, and other job related equipment safely.

Saw Operator/Material Handler (Mediapolis, IA)

Job Summary

The Saw Operator/Material Handler is responsible for:

  • Startup and shut down machine as recommended by maintenance
  • Operate machine in such a manner to meet Hawkeye quality standards
  • Operate machine in both a safe and productive manner
  • Perform required preventative maintenance
  • Read prints and complete miters meeting Hawkeye standards
  • Setup and program saws for automatic cutting operations

Quotations Specialist (New Hampton, IA)

Job Summary

The purpose of this job is to prepare equipment quotations, estimate project costs, and handle sales and customer service requests for customers.

Essential Functions:

• Prepare quotations for concrete pipe machinery equipment packages.
• Ensure the accuracy of all quotations prior to sending to customer or regional salesperson.
• Communicate via telephone and e-mail with customers for sales/service requests.
• Calculate estimated costs for equipment.
• Work with customer and engineering to research customer’s requirements for equipment.
• Write short messages to customers for accompanying quotes, etc.
• Coordinate equipment repair jobs with customer and manufacturing, quote scope of repairs and estimated costs to customer & finalize total costs based on actual time and materials.
