A metal slab bolster is a reinforcement accessory used in precast concrete manufacturing (and in cast-in-place work) to properly position and support reinforcing steel (rebar or welded wire mesh) at the correct height within the form before the concrete is poured. It holds the bottom layer of reinforcing steel at the right cover distance from the form surface, ensuring that the rebar stays embedded in the proper location for structural performance and durability.
Metal slab bolsters are often preferred when producing large precast elements like box culverts where heavy mats of steel need reliable support.
